Miles David Hartz

Miles David Hartz, 17, of Houston passed away June 25, 2023. Miles was born June 8, 2006, in Houston, Texas to David and Ingrid Hartz. He is survived by his parents David and Ingrid and his sister Isabel. Miles grew up in Houston and attended Meadow Wood Elementary, Grace School, Spring Forest Middle and Stratford High School. He was a confirmed member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church. Miles was a very happy, active, adventure-seeking and fun-loving child. In his early years, Miles enjoyed riding bikes, swimming at the Nottingham Forest pool with friends, skiing in New Mexico, and cliff and cave jumping into the crystal water of Mexico. Some of his most enjoyable times were during the summer at Camp Olympia where he made wonderful friends and experienced many exciting camp activities. Miles also enjoyed campouts with his cub scout pack from Meadow Wood. As he grew older, he began playing baseball year-round at SBMSA, The Grace School and the Slammers. He also became interested in many other hobbies that he would dive deeply into, including Go-Karting, airsoft rifles, and cooking. Miles was willing to try anything and had a keen ability to calmly and rationally conquer any challenge and fix any problem on his own. Miles was an avid fan of Star Wars and Harry Potter and knew every character and every scene from each movie as if he were living in them. With enthusiasm and so much knowledge, he led our family through each Star Wars and Harry Potter exhibit and ride at theme parks in Florida as if he were a character in the movies himself. Most of all, Miles was a sweet, sincere, kind, and loving son, brother, cousin and grandchild. Miles had a big heart that showed empathy and concern for everyone. He dearly loved his pets Bailey, Ernie and Esthim. Miles’ loving and magical presence will be profoundly missed by his family. A Memorial Service celebrating Miles’s life will be held 11:00 AM Friday, July 14, 2023, at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church 12955 Memorial Dr. Houston, Texas with reception to follow in Friendship Court.
