Timothy Michael Elford

Timothy Michael Elford, of Houston, Texas, died peacefully and surrounded by loving family on July 11, 2010. He was 59. He was born February 2, 1951, in Napoleon, Ohio to the late William Timothy Elford and Mary Lee Potts. Tim graduated from Strake Jesuit College Preparatory in 1969. He attended the University of Texas, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 1973. Following the legacy of his father, Tim enjoyed a long and successful career with several renowned oil and gas companies, eventually owning his own business, Petroleum Data Management. More recently, he traveled the world as an International Sales Manager for Nabors International. Although his primary focus was in oil and gas, early in his career, Tim was instrumental in the inception and development of a well-known Houston restaurant. Whether playing football, swimming, sailing in the Gulf, canoeing the Guadalupe, or winning countless tennis matches, Tim will always be remembered for his lifelong passion and devotion for sports. He had an uncanny ability to educate all those who desired to know the line on any game, which made him an invaluable buddy for many. He was an avid reader and historian, loved sushi, going to the movies and had an incredible knack for detail. But most of all, it was his extraordinary sense of humor which will leave a lasting impression on all that knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Timothy and Mary Lee Elford and his brother, Thomas Daniel Elford. He is survived by his daughter, Lauren Adame and husband, Jason; his son, Michael William Elford; brothers, John and wife, Roberta, James and wife, Paula, Robert, Sr. and wife, Gwen, sister, Elizabeth and husband, Chuck; loving nephews and nieces, Emily, Megan, Courtney, Robert, Jr., Grant, Sam and Blake. A memorial service followed by reception will be held in Houston on July 17, 2010 at 11:00am at D.M. Dettling Funeral Directors, 14094 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77079.
