Andrea Knight Robertson

Andrea Knight Robertson was taken from our world in an instant on Monday, April 8, 2013, by an accused drunk driver in Galveston. She is with her Savior, Jesus Christ, watching over us as she did her whole life on earth. Our world, as we knew it, is gone. Her children, Anthony, Angela and Cheslea Robertson, grieve the loss of their mother. Her grandchildren, Kalysta, Hannah and Giana, did not have enough time with the grandmother they so dearly loved. Her family and countless friends will celebrate Andrea’s life every moment of their own lives. She would be the first to tell us to do this. Andrea, a devoted Christian, shared her spiritual home between her daughters’ church at West Houston Christian Center lead by Pastors Jack and Mary Jean Pidgeon and Island Church in Galveston led by Pastors Rusty and Leah Martin. The term “steel magnolia” best describes our Andrea. She was gracious. Manners.“Please” and “Thank You,” a proper table setting, a lovely, decorated, warm home that welcomed everyone. A polished Southern lady. And her spirit was made of steel. She spoke so softly, but always clearly.Always sincerely. “I love you, baby,” she always told her children. “I understand,” she always said to her family and friends when troubled times hit. “Hey, friend,” she’d shout at you fromher front gate. She loved music: Her mother, singer Edie Hillburn Knight, and her father, pianist Bill Knight, gave her agreat love of jazz. And “jazzy” she was! Beautiful and stylish, she loved a night on the town listening and dancing to live music. Andrea lived a life without regrets. Instead, she was full of gratitude. She was grateful to Troy Robertson for the devoted father he is to their children and grandchildren. She was grateful for her friends, especially the life-long friendships of Linda “Missy” Vaughn, Lin Mikulenka and Robyn Nakakoji. She was grateful for her wonderful neighbors in Galveston and being able to live her dream of having a “cottage by the sea.” She was grateful to Home Depot for her job and the many dear friends she found there. In short, she was grateful to God for her family, her friends, for the sunshine and the beach- every day. And although she never lived large, she was a large and steady spirit in our world, a world that was once a brighter place because she graced us with her love and compassion.
