Barbara McKee Woodward

Barbara McKee Woodward, 62, of Katy, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Thursday, June 27, 2013. Barbara was born November 4, 1950 to John and Nan McKee in El Paso, Texas. She is survived by her sons, Phillip Sean Woodward & wife Coleen Denise Carlson and Brian Leigh Woodward & wife Adelia B. Metcalf; grandchildren, John Michael Woodward, Campbell Paige Woodward, Ethan Cole Woodward and Charlotte Reese Woodward; sisters, Charlotte Ann Cohen and Frances Elizabeth Tatum; brother, John Stuart McKee, Jr. as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She adored her children and grandchildren. Spending time with them provided her the most joy in life. Barbara was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She was married in Phoenix where she started her family. Barbara made a brief home back in El Paso and then Broken Arrow, Oklahoma before making the Houston area her final home. She dedicated herself to her family and upon being widowed she focused efforts on raising her two boys while attending the University of Houston completing her degree in Psychology. She retired from the University of Houston as an academic advisor, where she spent countless hours guiding students to their graduation. Barbara had a passion for home design and thoroughly enjoyed spending time in her home. She loved to entertain and left no detail unturned. She will be remembered for thoughtful birthday cards, beautifully wrapped packages and perfectly set dinner tables. Barbara was an eternal optimist even through her last days. She was a kind, graceful and strong woman with an excellent sense of humor. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77079. A reception will follow the service in the Grand Room.
