Belva Ann Landry

Belva Ann Landry, 90, of Houston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Belva was born on August 28, 1935, in Houston, Texas to Albert and Stella Guerin. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Stella, her sister, Zaidee McClendon of Covington, Louisiana, her daughter, Dawn Renee Anderson of Longmont, Colorado and her son-in-law, Robert (Bob) Young of Katy, Texas. Belva is survived by her children Linda Young, Mark Landry (wife, Becky), Matt Landry (wife, Terese), Cass Landry (wife, Suzanne) and son-in-law, Roger Anderson. She had seventeen grandchildren, twenty-eight great- grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters. Belva was proud to call herself a native Houstonian and lived in Houston for her entire life. Belva attended Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston, Texas. She worked in Accounting for the Petroleum Industry for twenty-five years, working her way through various positions by expanding her knowledge of the oil and gas business. In the 1990’s, when companies were being bought and sold, she survived several buyouts until she decided to retire in 1997. After retirement, Belva was able to spend more time on activities that she had always enjoyed such as volunteering at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, where she was a member for over thirty years. Belva loved square dancing and attended square dancing conventions throughout the U.S. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family around the U.S. and Europe. Throughout her life, Belva‘s main focus was always on her family. As it grew, she never lost touch with any of them, remembering the many new names and birthdays and celebrating special occasions. Belva enjoyed writing and was known by her family as quite the poet, often giving beautifully written, humorous poems to her grandchildren when they married. Her great grandchildren knew where she stored her own personal childhood toys that she shared with joy each time they visited. She was a strong woman who was loving and generous with her friends and family. She was a huge Astro’s fan and loved both watching the games and having a post-game animated discussion with her family. She even has a commemorative brick at the Houston Astro’s ballpark. Belva’s last few years were spent at Tarrytown Estates where she enjoyed the wonderful staff and the many new friends she made there. She had always loved playing games, and there she was able to play dominos and cards and attend the numerous social events that Nikki provided for everyone. Family enjoyed special time with Belva sharing meals created by Chef. The Landry family will be present to receive friends for viewing and visitation at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Dr. Houston, TX 77079, on Sunday, June 14th, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service following at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the following day on Monday, June 15th, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at St John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail Houston, TX 77079. A reception will be held immediately afterwards. Following the reception, Belva will be laid to rest at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
