Daniel Marcel Valenta Jr.

Daniel Marcel Valenta, Jr., a longtime resident of Houston, Texas, passed away on June 10, 2026, at the age of 71. He was born on September 2, 1954, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Daniel M. Valenta, Sr. Dan is survived by his brother, Richard Valenta, Sr. (Maureen) and sister Deborah Wilkins (Cary). He is lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: CDR Richard Valenta Jr. (Shannon), Devin Valenta (Marie), Brandon Valenta (Lindsey), Chad Wilkins (Kelli), Eric Wilkins (Katy), Lauren Lake (Kyle), as well as numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. Dan graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio, Texas. He was a trumpet member of the Lee Marching Band. He attended the University of Houston, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Following graduation, he worked in the accounting department at Grace Petroleum in Houston and Oklahoma for many years. He later transitioned into the uninterruptible power supply industry, working for Powerware and On Computer Services, as a service manager. Dan had many favorite pastimes. He was an avid fisherman who fished from his bass boat on many lakes around Texas with his dad, brother, nephews, cousins, and close friends. He also loved being in the woods hunting for big bucks. Dan was revered in the family as an expert vegetable gardener as he inspired many of us to create our own gardens. Dan could be frequently found at the family farm in Stockdale, Texas. He was an enthusiastic fan of his Houston Cougars, the Houston Astros, and the Houston Texans. He loved going on outings with his church friends and social group and watching classic movies. Dan was especially proud of his Czech and Polish family heritage and was a member and past president of his local KJT chapter. He loved Czech music, playing along on the accordion, and dancing the polkas at the SPJST and other favorite dance halls. Polka dancing was always a must! Dan was a faithful member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and was devoted to regular Bible study and prayer. He also served the church and community as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Dan will be long remembered for his love and devotion to his family, his faith, his friendships, and his family heritage. The Valenta family will be present to receive friends for viewing and visitation at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail Houston, Texas 77079 at 9:00 a.m. with rosary to begin at 10:00 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. A reception will be held immediately afterwards on church grounds. Following the reception, Daniel will be laid to rest at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
