Elaine Beverly Strong

Beverly Elaine Baugh Strong, age 78, went to be with her Lord on Friday, June 7, 2019. From her birth in Houston, TX on June 6, 1941 to her passing she poured her life into others and nourished people with her love, kindness, and most importantly her faith in God. She was born to William Henry and Fredika Amelia Baugh. She attended Bastrop High School and graduated from Southwest Texas State University. Elaine was also a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. On November 14, 1964, Elaine married James Frederick Strong Jr. – the love of her life. Together they had two children, Paul William Strong and Sheryl Renee’ Strong. Elaine enjoyed gardening, being a homemaker, spending time with friends and loving the Lord. She was a true prayer warrior, she did not take this responsibility lightly and you knew if she said she was going to pray for you – she did it – not because she had to but because she loved spending time in scripture and prayer. She knew and truly believed that Jesus was listening. Elaine was always fashion forward, working at both Sakowitz and Dimensions clothing retail stores. She loved for her children to look their best and even gave them a clothing allowance during high school. She surrounded herself with plants and flowers, always having a deck or patio with dozens of pots filled with the beauty from her Creator. She took great pleasure in investing her time in people. Most of her children’s friends viewed her as a second mother. Elaine had an innate ability to make each person feel special in their own way when she was with them. She chose to find the good in everyone. She cherished her relationship with lifelong family friends The Walls, especially taking all the kids on family summer vacations. Some of her favorite times were spent playing, watching, speaking about and praying for her three grandchildren. She received such joy just being in their presence. Elaine is survived by her beloved husband, Jim, of 54 years; children, Paul and his wife Debbie Strong, Sheryl Strong; grandchildren, Jacob, Will, Sophie and step grandchildren, Kendall, Zachary and Bennett; brother Robert and his wife Jane Baugh; sister in law Marita Wagner; nephews Bill Baugh, Bobby and his wife Carol Baugh, Scott Wagner and his wife Erin; niece Angie Sawyer. Join us for a casual open house Celebration of Life, on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the home of Dick and Betty Wall, 725 West Creekside, Houston, TX 77024 from 4:00 – 8:00pm. The eulogy will start at 5:30pm.
