Graham Andrew Wetherell

It is with profound sadness that the family of Graham Andrew Wetherell, 18, of Houston, Texas, announces his unexpected passing on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Graham was born Monday, September 3, 2007, to Jeremy George Wetherell and Erica Motter Wetherell, joining his big sister, Marin. Three years later, his little brother, Levi, joined the party. Graham is survived and deeply loved by his mother, father, siblings, grandparents- Mike Motter, Jody Swallow, and Madalyn Sykes, a large extended family, and an extraordinary circle of friends whose lives have been forever changed by knowing him. Graham graduated from Stratford High School as a member of the Academy of Science and Engineering. For his senior capstone project, Graham and four of his friends converted an old school bus into an RV. Following graduation, they took the bus on an epic cross country adventure through the Grand Tetons and beyond. The work was tedious and demanding, but for Graham, difficult did not mean impossible. More than an engineering project, the bus represented Graham’s approach to life. He dreamed boldly, acted courageously, surrounded himself with people he loved, accepted difficult challenges, and then did the work required to turn his dreams into reality. This is evidenced not only by the mountains he climbed on his cross-country bus adventures last month, but also by the highly successful and profitable junk removal business he and a friend grew from scratch over the last two years. Graham was preparing to begin an exciting new chapter at Texas A&M University in the fall, where he planned to study construction science. Even as a young child, Graham was goofy, fun, and always smiling. He was born with a charisma and sweetness that is hard to capture with words. Even as a toddler he was constantly up for an adventure. He was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger. As he grew, his love of life and love of people also grew. Graham was a natural and reliable leader with a unique ability to bring people together, inspire confidence in others, and make others feel like they were part of something meaningful. His gregarious joy was truly contagious. Graham was also uniquely determined and disciplined. He taught himself how to fix his truck, start a business, and a million other things. If there was an obstacle, he'd figure out a way to overcome it. The look on his face when he cleverly figured something out was priceless, and his drive and entrepreneurial mindset were truly extraordinary. Most importantly, Graham was thoughtful, loyal, and passionate about truth. He thought deeply and honestly about God and life. He asked hard questions, and answered other’s questions honestly. He was a man of his word, and his transparent nature made him someone others could confide in. He was a loyal friend. Graham’s faith was an important part of his life, and many of his friends credit their own faith to his bold witness and faithful love for others. His family takes comfort in knowing that because of his faith in Jesus, his life is now held in the hands of God. Graham is loved deeply, and his family is immeasurably proud of the life he lived. A life that was far too short, but also, a life that was lived to the full. The love, courage, and joy he brought into this world will never be forgotten. A Memorial Service is being held Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Dr. Houston, TX 77079, with a reception to follow in The Friendship Court.
