Kathleen Marie Dooley

Kathleen Marie Dooley 69, of Houston passed away April 13, 2021. Born November 14, 1951 in the Panama Canal Zone to Alice and Colonel Richard Dooley, Kathleen (Kate), was a proud Army child. Following her birth in Panama, the family moved to Syracuse, New York, Fairfax, Virginia, Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas and Falls Church, Virginia before settling in Cincinnati, Ohio. Kate graduated from Ursuline Academy and subsequently attended Xavier University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Following college, Kate moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to begin a job with American Airlines in the Reservations department. Kate’s job with American allowed her to take many trips throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia with family and friends, which became a pastime she would enjoy her whole life. This job eventually took her to the Dallas-Fort Worth area where Kate raised her two kids, Keenan and Kristine. Following her retirement, Kate enjoyed volunteering, taking many vacations with her friends and siblings, trips to visit her son in Los Angeles and in 2017 moved to Houston to be closer to her daughter and their growing family. Kate enjoyed traveling, spending time with her puppies, gardening, reading, visits to the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, being a mother to Keenan and Kristine, and being a fantastic Mimi to her granddaughters, Evie and Ali. She was a volunteer of the American Legion at the USO in the DFW Airport and Dress for Success of Houston. She was a patient and unconditional supporter of her children, a happy and kind-hearted person who brightened every room she entered and who never met a stranger. It brought her joy to do nice things for other people. Her kindness will be her legacy. Kate is preceded in death by her parents Alice and Richard Dooley and brother Joseph Dooley. She is survived by her son Keenan and wife Nicole Hiett, her daughter Kristine and husband Justin Mayhall, sisters Janet Castellini and Meg Dooley, granddaughters Evelyn and Alice Mayhall, and many adored nieces and nephews, their children and spouses. A celebration of Kate’s life will be held at a later date.
