Margie Louise Stanfield

Margie Louise Stanfield, 80, of Houston passed away May 26, 2017 while vacationing in Bergen, Norway. Margie was born April 9, 1937 in Navarro, Texas. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Joe Stanfield; children, Greg Easterling & wife Grace, Michael Stanfield, Veronica Stanfield and wife Mary Akin, Matt Lambeth & wife Carolyn, Jolynn Torres & husband George; grandchildren, Christopher, Kale, Kody, Miles, Spencer, Reese; great granddaughter, Kaylee; sister, Shirley Fuller & husband Roger as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Margie grew up in the Dallas area graduating from Terrell High School at age 16. She was an avid reader and a member of the Country Village Book Club, as well as a book reviewer for Amazon. She was also an honorary member of the Briar Village Garden Club. Mrs. Stanfield was a scholarship judge for the Houston TX Firefighters Credit Union and a mentor & reader at Wolfe Elementary School. Margie was the only known person to serve three consecutive years as First Lady of the Appraisal Institute. She coordinated functions of the market data center, a coop of appraisers, brokers and lenders in the South Texas Center. She worked for a prominent real estate company and was Vice President of Stanfield Appraisal Company. She was a longtime member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Houston where she was heavily involved in church ministries and co-chaired a committee to serve the sick and home bound. Margie was a very active person who traveled the world for business and pleasure. She was a seasoned sea faring cruiser who loved to entertain guests from around the world, a big fan of music by Texas singers and songwriters, played softball in city leagues and Appraiser’s Softball league for The Stanfield Sloths. Her passion was pleasing her loved ones and friends at every opportunity. She was dearly loved by those who knew her and will be greatly missed. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 9, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079. A reception will follow Holy Mass on the church grounds. In lieu of flowers please consider contributions in Margie’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
