Nancy K. Henson

Nancy K. Henson was called to heaven on the morning of November 8, 2014. Mrs. Henson was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, January 31, 1939 to Joe & Pearl Keith. She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband David C. Henson, and her sisters Mary Ruth Reece and Betty Jo Balltrip. Nancy is survived by her children, Cynthia J. Warren & husband James D. Warren, Neill Arnhart & wife Wendy Arnhart, Carol Arnhart-Henson, David C. Henson Jr; Step grandchildren, Brandy Warren Tessitore & husband Joe, Kayla Jenkins; Step great grandchildren, Braxton Bogue and Lillian Ramm; Brother-in-law, Bob G Reece; Cousins, Nancy Candler, Guy Mitchell Candler, Jill McMurry Hedrick, Cecil McMurry; Niece, Sabrina Horton; Nephews, Steve Balltrip, Bobby Reece Jr; Great nephew Sean Reece and great nieces Lauren and Maggie Balltrip as well as many close family friends. Nancy grew up in Knoxville Tennessee. She was a homemaker, a dental assistant and a model for a local store, Conley Morris. She later moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she met her wonderful husband Dave Henson. They packed up and moved their brood to Trinidad for 2 years and later to Maracaibo, Venezuela for 10 years. Nancy was very active in the North American Association of Venezuela, Maracaibo Chapter and was elected Woman of The Year. After those 12 years of overseas adventures, the family moved to Houston in 1978. Being a proud Tennessean made becoming a transplanted Texan an easy transition. Nancy ran a very successful specialty advertising business, Henson Advertising, Inc, for over 20 years. In Houston, Nancy became very involved in her church, becoming a Stephen’s Minister and a Christ Care Group leader at St. Thomas Presbyterian Church. Nancy was the epitome of southern charm, grace, generosity and kindness. In her life Nancy often wow’ed the people she met with her unforgettable combination of class, beauty and genuine kindheartedness. Her heart was as big as the state of Texas and her beauty unrivaled. If you had Nancy as a friend you had someone that would do anything for you, her love was deep and unconditional . Nancy also had a great love for animals, of which she had many over the course of her life. Nancy had an exceptional relationship with each of her 4 children, her love for them knew no bounds. Having known her made us all better people. To put it simply, Nancy Henson was an angel put here on earth to make our lives a little brighter until the morning she was called to be an angel in heaven. We will hold her dearly in our hearts for all times. Nancy was deeply loved by many and will be profoundly missed. The Henson family will be present to receive friends Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77079. A Memorial Service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 4:00 PM at St. Thomas Presbyterian Church, 14100 Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77079. A reception will be held after the service on the church grounds. Nancy will be laid to rest with her late husband David in VA Houston National Cemetery on Thursday at 11:15 AM, before the memorial service.
