Patricia Ann Strait

Patricia Ann Strait, 92, of Houston passed away on October 18, 2023. Patricia was born August 1, 1931, in Houston, Texas to William and Edith Witte. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Farnum Strait and their daughter Laura Strait Caligiuri. She is survived by daughter Susan Wall and husband Mike, son Scott Strait and wife Debbie, and son John Strait and wife Cecile. Becoming a grandmother was one of the biggest joys of Pat’s life. She was very proud of all eight of her grandchildren: Erin Wall (Alex) Johnson, Shannon Wall (David) Camp, Stephanie Strait (Jared) Barrett, Lindsey Strait (Harrison) Frehe, Jeremy Trent Strait, Caitlin Olivia Strait, Alley Fae Strait and Ryan David Waddell. She also enjoyed being a great grandmother of seven. Pat was proud to be a native Texan and lifelong Houstonian. She met Richard, the love of her life, at her first job when she was in her early twenties. Richard’s work brought them overseas to Buenos Aires and Trinidad during their early years of marriage. Pat frequently shared wonderful stories of their time together overseas. They were married for 39 years before his passing in 1992. She continued to miss him dearly since then. She had many talents and hobbies. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many Christmas decorations, Halloween costumes, and other cherished items for her family and friends. Pat was also an excellent cook and baker. She loved making home cooked meals for her immediate and extended family. Pat was famous for her cookies, pies, and cakes that she loved baking for family and friends. An avid reader since childhood, Pat thoroughly enjoyed reading books of all genres and sharing her knowledge gained from them with others. Pat lived her life with love and compassion for her family, friends and her country. She was lovingly known as GaGa and Aunt Patty. Pat was a cherished mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and friend and will be dearly missed. A memorial service to celebrate Pat’s life will be Saturday, October 28 at 2:30 at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77079.
