Robert Sherman Moore II

Robert Sherman Moore II, age 59, ended his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on December 4, 2013 and is now resting in the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ. Rob was born December 18, 1953 in Chanute, Kansas to Robert and Joyce Moore. He graduated from Ottawa University with a BBA and earned his MBA from Southern Methodist University. Rob married Robin Capper Moore on August 20, 1976 and they began their life together in Houston, Texas. He loved being the proud father of Lindsay, Bobby and Alex, his greatest accomplishments, and in recent years welcomed the role of “Baba” and “Granddad” to Samantha, Stephen, Jillian and Matthew. Rob, an accomplished pianist, loved music of all genres, but not as much as he loved his sports. Basketball topping the list, Rob played for both his Shawnee Mission South Raiders and his Ottawa University Braves. Rob was an avid Kansas Jayhawk fan; March Madness, his favorite holiday! He was always racing from work to coach one of his kids’ teams or to attend the games of his young friends. Rob devoted his life to teaching young men and women how to live godly lives. He always ended his weekly Sunday school lesson with a “So What;” So what are you going to do with this Truth?” Then he would go out and live his own life within his family and the business community with integrity and humility, investing in the lives of everyone he met. Although he loved investment banking and corporate restructuring, he cherished even more the life-long friendships he made throughout his long career in Houston. Above all, Rob dedicated his life to following his Lord and Savior and every part of his life pointed to Christ. Fighting the good fight, running the good race, he finished faithfully. Rob will be greatly missed by Robin, his loving wife of 37 years; his children, Lindsay and Jeff Webdell of San Diego, California, Robert S. Moore III of Houston, Texas and Alex and Stephany Moore of Austin, Texas; his siblings, Denise and Jim Perkins of Lenexa, Kansas, Brad and Nancy Moore of Lake Oswego, Oregon; his siblings by marriage: Vicki and Roger Kelm of Surrey, B.C. He will continue to live on in the hearts of his four grandchildren, his nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Living Water International. (www.water.cc.) Providing safe drinking water to indigent families was one of Rob’s greatest concerns. The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Van Morris of MD Anderson and Ashley Neal for their dedicated care of Rob during his illness. The family will receive visitors Tuesday evening, December 10, 2013 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and invites friends and family to Rob’s Celebration of Life Service, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Both will be held at Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Dr. Houston, Tx. 77024. Private burial to be held.
