Susan Lea Marks

Susan Lea Marks, 60, of Houston, passed away April 20, 2025. Susan was born May 28, 1964, in Des Plaines, Illinois to Walter A. and Lillian Taschetta Marks. She is survived by her sister, Denise Waterbury (Mike) and her brother, Walter Marks (Mary) and Richard Jones, (brother-in-law). Her nieces, Tricia Waterbury Beal (Andrew) and Deanna Marks Knaizer (Brendon). Her nephew, Scott Waterbury. And her great nephews Alex and Everett. Susan grew up in Midland, Michigan. She went to Jefferson Jr. High, attended H. H. Dow High School, and graduated from Klein High School in Spring, Texas. She played on the girls’ basketball team, ran track, and was a member of the swim team. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas; then went on to earn her CPA. She received an Executive MBA from Texas A & M University. Susan worked for more than 35 years in the Finance field. She was a member of Toastmasters and became an excellent public speaker. She also enjoyed Storytellers Club. She volunteered her time to several professional associations; sometimes in leadership roles. Susan loved to cook and bake and was a talented candy maker. She also enjoyed collecting ceramic houses and china. Her greatest joy was in spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by Walter A. Marks (father), Lillian Marks (mother), and Mary Grace Jones (sister). Mass of Christian Burial will be May 16, 2025, at St. Justin the Martyr Catholic Church, 13350 Ashford Point Dr., Houston, TX 77082. Rosary will be at 10:30, followed by a Mass at 11:00-12:00.
