Barbara Cowan Koecher

Barbara Cowan Koecher, 92, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in Katy, Texas on September 20, 2021. She was born to Joe and Lucille Cowan on December 16, 1928 in Dallas, Texas. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Kevin Barrett Koecher Sr. of 62 years of marriage. She is survived by her three children; daughter Barbara Eileen Fankhauser and husband Eldon of Katy, Texas; son Kevin Barrett Koecher Jr. and wife Stephanie of Houston,Texas; son Blake Cowan Koecher and wife Kathy of San Diego, California; grandsons Mark Fankhauser, David Fankhauser and wife Catherine, Mason Koecher and great-granddaughter Quinn Fankhauser. In addition, Barbara is survived by her sister Rosemary Raines and sister-in-law Delight Wardashki, niece Anne Shine and nephews Mark Raines, John Pat Wardashki, Paul Wardashki, Tom Koecher, Randy Koecher and Drew Koecher. Barbara grew up in Dallas, Texas, and graduated from North Dallas High School. Following high school, she attended Texas State College for Women (TWU). During this time, Barbara met and married her dearest love and best friend, Kevin Koecher on December 27, 1947. Barbara dedicated her life to her family and creating a beautiful home. She was a wonderful hostess and enjoyed entertaining her family and many dear friends. Barbara possessed a quiet faith and assurance of the Lord throughout her life. She had a lovely countenance, encouraging spirit and engaging sense of humor. We were blessed to share that precious life and are heartened that Barbara is united with the Lord and her dearest ones. A memorial service celebrating Barbara’s life will take place at a later date in San Antonio, Texas with burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzback Road, San Antonio, Texas.
