Berta del Carmen Salinas de Berrios

Berta del Carmen Salinas de Berrios, lovingly known as “Abuelita,” passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015, surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. She was born in Santiago de Chile October 19, 1921, and moved to the United States with her husband and family in 1970. She lived in New Jersey, Florida, and Texas, and considered Katy, Texas her beloved home, where she resided the last 35 years. Preceded in death by her loving parents, Daniel Salinas Robles and Maria Sara Vergara de Salinas. Her husband and one true love, Juan Manuel Berrios Alvarez; Her siblings Daniel, Maria, Carlos, Mario, Osvaldo, Rene, and Eliana; Her granddaughter-in-law, Marisel Santibanez de Aguirre. Survived by her four children and their spouses: Ricardo and Eugenia, Juan and Teresa, Betty and Heriberto, Manuel and Marta; 10 grandchildren and their spouses: Maria Eugenia (John), Claudia (Alberto), Manuel Esteban (Tabi), Giannina, Alan (Suzi), Patrick (Rocio), Michelle (Rick), Cynthia (Mario), Mario (Linda), and Daniel Felipe; 19 great grandchildren: Natalia (Stephen), Richard, Christopher (Kathryn), Sarah, Manuel, Lee, Brianna, Devin, Diego, Caleb, Diego, Matthew, Bailey, Isabella, Sophia, Sebastian, Aiden, Rick, and Ava; numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren; countless friends and her two loyal four-legged companions, Lucy & Suzette. Abuelita was the matriarch of our very small and close family. She loved to spend time with family, friends, and neighbors. She was a devout Catholic and loved Sundays because she shared timed with the lord and her family. She prayed for everyone’s health and well-being on a daily basis. She loved caring for her plants, garden and animals. We will greatly miss our angel on earth. A Catholic Memorial Service will be held at Dettling Funeral Home on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 12:00 PM. Followed by interment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
