Carl W. Wishon

August 31, 1935 - November 30, 2015

Carl W. Wishon, 80, of Houston passed away Monday, November 30, 2015. Carl was born August 31, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio to Justin and Alice Wishon. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Berhl Wishon. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Beverly Ann Darst Wishon; children, Brenda Jo Wishon, Bambi Alice Anton & husband David, Babette Lee Roberts & husband Allen, Bret Carl Wishon & wife Kristi; grandchildren, Mica & husband Chris, Rickie & husband Frank, Bryce, Ryann & husband Travis, Kyle & fiance’ Alba, Alexandra, Olivia; great grandchildren, Trinity, Brittany, Paris, Mylee, Elijah, Kennady, Jacob, Maverick, Sebastian, Chloe, Isaiah, Grayson; brother, Donald Lee Wishon; nieces and nephews, Bruce, Scott, Melissa, & Brian Wishon; brother-in-law, Mike Darst & wife Judy, Harry Darst, Jr.; sister-in-law, Malia Lowry and many other extended family and dear friends. Carl was raised in the Columbus area and attended Ohio State University where he remained a loyal Buckeye for his entire life. His work as a draftsman eventually moved his family to the Houston area where they raised their children. He was a longtime member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church. Carl was a strong man of great faith and conviction. He was extremely organized, focused and very practical, always taking on the do it yourself project. He was the pillar of his family, never missing any of his children’s events and always there for all of them as they grew. Carl had a wonderful sense of humor and laughed often. His joy was contagious. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, swimming, ice cream and many outdoor activities. Carl was a man who lived well and loved his family and friends completely. He will be sorely missed and always remembered. A Memorial Service celebrating Carl’s life will be held Friday, December 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77079. A reception will follow services in Friendship Court. In lieu of flowers please consider contributions in Carl’s memory to Mended Hearts Chapter 38 at www.mendedhearts.org or the Caring Forever Foundation at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church.
