John David Fischer

January 20, 1941 - September 5, 2021

John David Fischer 80, of Houston passed away September 5, 2021. John was born January 20, 1941, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late John William and Dorothy Monica Fischer. He is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, J. Allyn Preston and mother-in-law, Blanche Conerly Preston. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara Preston Fischer; children, John Preston Fischer, Michael Preston Fischer, and Laura Fischer Nally; son-in-law, Douglas Ryan Nally; grandchildren, Thomas Preston Nally, Elizabeth Ann Nally, and Lindsay Caroline Nally; sister, Susan Ann Fischer and brother, James Edward Fischer; brother-in-law, Dr. Ronald Preston; sisters-in-law, Margaret Preston and Jung Fischer. He loved his niece, nephews and their children dearly. John grew up in Milwaukee and his family moved to Chicago where he graduated from Fenwick High School. He then went on to graduate from Marquette University with a degree in Engineering. John moved to Washington D.C. where he graduated from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law with his J.D. He practiced law before going into commercial real estate development. John loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially attending their school activities. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Barb. In recent years they traveled extensively throughout South America and Europe. Earlier in life his favorite pastimes were coaching his children in various sports, boating, and golf. John never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite teams, the Astros and Green Bay Packers. He will be missed dearly by his family. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday September 16, 2021, at 10:30 AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail Houston, TX 77079. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Cathedral House School where his grandkids attend. Funds will go to support the dedicated teachers who have done so much during extremely challenging times of COVID.
