Kenneth Wayne Selke

January 12, 1956 - April 25, 2020

Kenneth Wayne Selke passed away on April 25, 2020 from COVID-19, along with other serious underlying conditions. Ken was born January 12, 1956 in Houston, Texas to his parents Harold E. Selke, Sr. and Eloise Wildenthal Selke. Ken attended Kolter Elementary, Johnston Junior High and graduated from Bellaire High School in 1974. He then obtained a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of Houston in 1978, followed by graduate studies at Texas A & M University. Ken worked in accounting and finance positions for 18 years, most spent with the plastics processing equipment seller Hub Scott & Associates in Houston. Ken enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, scuba diving when younger and walking as many as 10 to 15 miles a day as recently as last year. Ken is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his brother and his wife, Ed and Donna Selke, his stepmother Mrs. Harold E. Selke, Sr. (Billie), his half-sister and her husband, Amy and Tim McCay, his nephews, Bradley Selke, Timothy McCay and Jonathan McCay, his aunt Carolyn Wildenthal and many beloved cousins. The family expresses their eternal gratitude to the first responders and healthcare heroes at Memorial Hermann Southwest hospital who risked their own well-being to try to save Ken, and then to make Ken comfortable and feel not alone when it was evident that COVID-19 would take him. As a result of the pandemic there will be no funeral or memorial service. Burial is planned later in the year in Cotulla, Texas.
