Marie van Vaerenbergh De Rozario

October 8, 1928 - November 3, 2015

Marie van Vaerenbergh De Rozario, 87, of Houston passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Tuesday, November 3, 2015. Marie was born October 8, 1928 in Indonesia. She is preceded in death by her husband Johny De Rozario and is survived by her daughter, Sandra Stunz and her husband Tim; grandchildren, Gabby and Nicky Stunz; sister, Hetty Jacobson and brother, Jos van Vaerenbergh as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Marie grew up in Indonesia and moved to Holland with her family in the early 1950’s. She married the love of her life, Johny De Rozario in 1953. She and Johny, with their daughter Sandra, moved to the United States in 1958 living in Colorado, California and finally settling in Texas. Marie taught pre-school for over 20 years and had a great love for her students. Marie was an extremely thoughtful person. She never met a stranger and would most certainly make a friend everywhere she went. She always enjoyed spending time with her friends at Parkway Place, playing bingo and attending socials. Most of all, Marie loved and cared for her family. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren at school events and adored family time. Marie was loved by those who knew her and will be greatly missed. The De Rozario family will be present to receive friends Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM with a vigil service beginning at 4:00 PM at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Dr. at Kirkwood in Houston. The Funeral Mass will commence Monday, November 9, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079. Marie will be laid to rest following Holy Mass in Memorial Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart, Strake Jesuit College Preparatory or the school of your choice.
