Mike Kenney

September 9, 1954 - August 8, 2015

Mike Kenney, 60, of Houston passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015. Mike was born in Newburgh, NY to John and Olive Kenney. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Allison; children, Shawn Stiles and husband Nick, Ryan Kenney, Kristin Kenney and Jennifer Kenney; grandson, Jack Cooper Stiles; sister, Candace Braun; extended family and dear friends. Mike spent his childhood in upstate New York and attended the University of Notre Dame. Upon his graduation in 1976, he began his career in the oil and gas industry with Exxon. In a career that spanned 39 years, Mike continuously demonstrated his passion for safety and a keen ability to develop leaders. Most recently, he was a Vice President at Phillips 66 in Houston. Mike was the epitome of the hardworking family man. His enthusiasm for life and sense of humor were evident to all those who were lucky enough to know him. Many would consider him a mentor and friend, both personally and professionally. Mike’s greatest joy was to spend time with his family. He was loved by those who knew him and he will be greatly missed. The Funeral Mass will commence Friday, August 14, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079. A reception will follow Holy Mass.
