Nancy Donnelly Neville

February 14, 1945 - April 14, 2022

Nancy Donnelly Neville passed away peacefully on April 14, 2022, in her home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Nancy was born on Valentine’s Day 1945 to Walter and Anne Donnelly in Santa Clara, California, where her father was stationed during World War II. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Walter (Don) Donnelly, and brother James (Jim) Donnelly. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 50+ years, Edward Neville; 3 daughters and their spouses, Sarah Neville Laird and husband Jeff; Erin Neville Brock and husband Kevin; Katherine Neville Gray and husband Russ; grandchildren Margaret, Julia, and Wade Laird; Nolan, Henry, and Grant Brock; Kyle, Ryan, and Toby Gray; her brother William (Bill) Donnelly; five sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Nancy grew up in the Riverdale section of the Bronx New York and graduated from Rosemont College, Rosemont, Pennsylvania in 1967. It was while in college that she met Ed who was attending nearby Villanova University. Nancy and Ed married in 1971 and lived and worked in Manhattan where they had their first daughter, Sarah. Shortly after Sarah’s birth they moved to Mobile, Alabama where Ed was transferred for work. In 1988, the family relocated to Houston, Texas where they all remain currently. While Nancy’s main profession was as a homemaker, she spent many years working at and managing Child’s Play Toys in Memorial. It is while working here that she met some life long friends. In her retirement she kept busy with her Junior League of Houston sustainer group, money counting at St. John Vianney and working at the church’s food pantry. Ed and Nancy loved traveling and visited many wonderful places throughout their 50 years of marriage. Nancy especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and always made sure to attend the various games, competitions, and recitals of whatever season each child was involved in. Services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022, with visitation beginning at 6:00 PM and vigil at 7:00 PM at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77079. Funeral Mass will be held the following morning Wednesday April 20, 2022, at 10:30 AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail Houston, TX 77079. Nancy will be laid to rest at Memorial Oaks cemetery.
