Valeria M. Walsh, 85, of Houston passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Monday, October 10, 2016. She was born October 17, 1930 in Washington County, Texas to Theodore and Carrie Kaminski. She is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Lisa Jones; great grandsons, Tavin Parker and Chase Menn; brothers Floyd Kaminski and Pete Kaminski; and sister, Mary Kaminski. Mrs. Walsh is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Michael J. Walsh; her five children, Sanda Walsh & husband Sammy Wells, Katy Jones & husband Tim, Mary Shreve & husband Joseph, Debbie Johnson & husband Kent and Michael R. Walsh & wife Cyndy Avery; grandchildren, Jennifer Dujka & husband Joe, Carl Wells & wife Ferrin and their children, Owen and Oliver, Stacy Jones and her daughter Nobalie Fulcher, Jaime Jones and his children Ashley and Haylee, Christy Brown & husband Kyle and their daughter Kylie, Sam Shreve & his wife Ashli and their children Easton and Ellie, Brandon Dague & wife Natalie and their children, Mikaela and Leah, Lauren Rivera & husband Lee and their children Max and Marlee; Kyle Johnson & wife Melly, Kameron Johnson, Kyle Pitman & wife Christinah and their children Elizabeth and Kyleigh, Jayme Pitman and her daughter Desiree and great granddaughter Aries Jones. She also leaves nieces and nephews, Floyd Kaminski, Jr. & wife Susie, Cary Kaminski, Denise Savage & husband Greg and Marcus Kaminski & wife Christie as well as numerous extended family and dear friends. Val grew up in Brenham, Texas where she worked in a cigarette factory before moving to Houston as a young woman and becoming a Governess. It is in Houston where she met and married the love of her life Mike Walsh. Her and her husband raised a large family where she was extremely devoted to her career as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Val was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Houston. At one time she was the leader of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. John Neumann. Val was a loving, caring person with a strong will and even stronger faith. She was the epitome of the homemaker; caring for her husband and children was her mission. She loved sports, especially football, as well as hunting, bowling and occasionally, playing the slots. She was loved by those who knew her and will be greatly missed. The Walsh family will be present to receive friends Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Holy Rosary being recited at 7 PM at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77079. The Funeral Service will commence Friday, October 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Dettling Funeral Home. Graveside Services will follow in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery via motorized cortege.
