George Lewis Simpson

George Lewis Simpson, 61, of Houston passed away June 7, 2014. He was born April 21, 1953 in San Antonio, Texas. George is survived by his wife Linda Simpson, his step-daughter Terry Johnson, step-son Lucky Schwartz, his mother Shirley Vest and sister Connie Gutierrez. Also his niece Sabrina Siems, and her husband Robbie; nephew Chris Dodson, and wife Sabrina; Aunt Peggy Owen; great-nieces and nephews, cousins and step-grandsons Cody and Corbin Johnson. And finally, many friends. His wife Linda and sister Connie were at his side until his passing. George was a wonderful Son, Brother, Husband, Dad and Friend. He worked the past nine years for Walmart at N. Eldridge and FM 1960. He started in the Toy Department and thereafter in the Garden Center. George was a very hard worker and strived at whatever he did. George also loved to fish back in the days...most times, if he wasn't home he was fishing and would come back with that same old story: You should have seen that fish that got away. And every time it was told, that fish just got bigger! And finally, the family would like to remember George's dad, Harvey Simpson, who passed on May 3, 2000, and his step-dad Daniel Vest who passed on February 19, 2007. They were all very special and George will be missed by everyone who knew him. May he rest in peace. A Memorial Service celebrating George’s life will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77079.
