May Kiu Lee Eng

May Kiu Lee Eng, 87, went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on April 6, 2017 in Houston, Texas. Born on February 2, 1930, in Hanghai Foon, China, she was the eldest of six children. She married Warren C.K. Eng on April 21, 1951 in Hong Kong and moved to the United States, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1957. They lived in Tenafly, New Jersey, and San Francisco, California, before planting their roots in Houston in 1963. May was a member of Chinese Baptist Church, and was baptized with her daughters in 1974. She loved her Lord and her family more than anything in this world, even learning to drive in order to take her girls to church. She was an active partner in several businesses with her husband, including a laundry, grocery stores, and a motel business. May was a selfless woman who had amazing strength and grace. May enjoyed being with her daughters, and kept close friends by her side. An avid gardener, she had the greenest thumb of anyone around. She loved McDonald’s Big Macs and French fries, and enjoyed watching soap operas like “The Young and Restless” and “General Hospital.” She practiced the Chinese traditions she learned as a child, and taught them to her daughters. May loved each daughter unconditionally, and as her family grew with sons-in-law and grandchildren, her love for each one grew as well. May is preceded in death by her parents, Mong Ken Lee and Tuey How Ng Lee, and her sisters, Mae Lai and Joan Louie. May is survived by her husband, Warren C.K. Eng and their seven daughters and their families, Dinah Eng of Los Angeles, CA, Linda Eng of Houston, TX, Lillian and Michael Howard of Houston, TX, Jacqueline and James Beer of Houston, TX, Jane and John Chung of Houston, TX, Wendy and Michael Wong of Austin, TX , and Karen and Danny Park of Colleyville, TX, Her 15 grandchildren are: Nicholas, Emily, and Mark Howard; Peter and Samuel Beer ; Bentley and Maximillian Chung; Audrey, Michaela, Molly, and Mitchel Wong, and Riley, William, Hannah, and Colin Park. In addition, she is survived by three brothers and their families, Alson and JoAnn Lee, Jenson and Winnie Lee, and Thompson Lee, all of San Francisco, CA. and numerous nieces and nephews. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her family and friends, and her love lives on through them. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 12th at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Drive in Houston. A funeral service is to be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 13th at Chinese Baptist Church; 900 Brogden Road in Houston.
