Peter Maurice Sellier

Peter Maurice Sellier, 79, of Houston passed away May 10th, 2023 in the company of a multitude of family, friends, neighbors, and clergy. Peter was born December 9th, 1943, in Trinidad and Tobago to Louis and Stephanie Sellier. He is preceded in death by both of his parents as well as two of his brothers, Stephen Sellier and Tony Sellier. Peter is survived by his wife of 53 years, Susan, as well as his twin sister Jeanette B-Sellier and brother Victor Sellier, sons Christian Louis Sellier (wife Rachel Donohue), Richard Thomas Sellier (wife Danielle Eileen Doehring Sellier), and Brian Anthony Sellier. Peter also leaves behind several grandchildren: Andrew Thomas Sellier, Elise Gutierrez, Leon Gomez, Kaylie Eileen Sellier, Trace Thomas Sellier, Norah Allison Sellier, William Peter Sellier, and Susette Helen Sellier. Peter grew up in Venezuela and graduated from Barry College in Rome, Georgia. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, scouting, and traveling, especially family trips to the beach where the family would camp as he taught sons Christian and Richard to water ski. Peter was generous and kind with his time towards causes he cared deeply for. He loved working with the Boy Scouts of America. His involvement in the Boy Scouts of America spanned over five decades, and he saw all of his three sons advance through the ranks and earn their Eagle rank. He loved watching Scouts advance and learn about the outdoors, conservation, as well as how our community and country work. He was a very proud US citizen and gave time in an effort to help make things better. He was reverent and kind hearted. St. John Vianney was his place to find peace and comfort and to renew his energy. He loved people from all walks of life. He eagerly anticipated and promoted the Church Bazaar, the Lenten Dinners, Midnight Mass, Easter celebrations, First Communions, and his trip to Israel. He loved his family and loved to make big breakfasts as well as host BBQs and pool parties. An ultimate do-it-yourselfer, he knew a lot about fixing things and helping neighbors. A visitation beginning at 5:30 PM and a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM will be held Thursday, May 25th, 2023, at Dettling Funeral Home at 14094 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX, 77079. Mass of Christian Burial will be the following morning at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 26th, 2023, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church at 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX, 77079 with reception to follow in St. Jude Hall.
