Virginia Ann "Ginny" Studdert

Virginia (Ginny) Ann Studdert, 79, of Houston passed away Friday, December 13, 2019. Ginny was born September 13, 1940 in Houston, Texas to Alfred and Virginia Finn. She is preceded in death by her parents and her only sister Carol Hightower. She is survived by her Husband Jim of 55 years of marriage. (Children) Eric Patrick, his wife Kolette Aleigh, their children Logan Patrick, his wife Amy Lauren, and their child Lorelai Blake; Keaton Grant and Makenzie Reid all of Spring and Cypress, TX; Brian Joseph, his children Brendan James, Alayna Ellen, and Aiden Joseph, all of Kingwood, TX. (Nieces and Nephews) Melissa Billings and husband John of Keller, TX; Charles Fey of Houston; Kimberly Pell and husband Greg of Houston, TX; and Craig Hightower and his wife Lisa of Spring, TX. Ginny grew up in Houston, TX and graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1958 and The University of Texas at Austin in 1962 with a BS degree in Fashion Design. She was the grand-daughter of the notable Houston architect Alfred C Finn Sr. She was primarily a mother and house wife, but also worked as an interior decorator for several different shops in Houston decorating homes in Sugar Land, TX and the Memorial areas of Houston, TX. Ginny enjoyed church volunteer work, serving one Catholic Church as the Director of Art & Environment for 10 years. In her current parish of St. Cecilia she was in charge of the Gathering Place, a ministry for the adults suffering with dementia, for 12 years until she was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and could no longer function in that capacity. In 2014, she was named the Interfaith Care Partner number one volunteer out of approximately 2,000 volunteer’s city wide. She thoroughly enjoyed gardening and was part of the Walnut Bend Garden Club where she resided. She loved to play bridge and fellowship with other women in the community wherever she was located throughout the greater Houston area. Ginny was a follower of Jesus Christ and her belief was to Love Others to be Loved by Others. She was an extremely patient and tolerant person. She kept a very positive outlook in all situations. If you were blessed with the opportunity to have had her touch your life in some fashion, you are one that won the lottery. When you had a conversation with her, you knew she had your heart at hand. She was the definition of selflessness. She was a loving wife and mother who always put her family first ahead of herself and others. The servant qualities she exhibited with her family extended to other family members, friends and those in need. It was of the upmost importance for her to give than to receive. She was an excellent cook and interior decorator who enjoyed throwing get-togethers with family and friends. If you attended one of her dinner parties, when you left you felt loved. She always willingly and graciously supported her children and grand-children by being an active part of the extra-curricular activities that they were involved in. God blessed her with a beautiful great grand-daughter who was born on her birthday, September 13, and the same day of the week, Friday. The Studdert family will be present to receive friends Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 PM at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77079. The Funeral Mass will Commence Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 10:30 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan-of-Arc Drive, Houston, TX 77024. A reception will follow Holy Mass in the community center. A burial will follow reception at Forest Park Westheimer at 1:00PM.
